Words To Live By From Nnenna Stella.....

Updated: May 19, 2024

Nnenna Stella, a black Queen residing in Brooklyn, embodies what it means to be a true Queen. She is the founder and owner of The Wrap Life, a business that transformed a simple hair accessory into a powerful symbol of personal empowerment. Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, Stella spent years waitressing in both Los Angeles and New York City while exploring other career paths such as real estate, acting, and photography. Despite her varied experiences, she found no sense of fulfillment until she started The Wrap Life.

Stella's inspirational words and writings have deeply impacted me, and I find myself constantly revisiting her posts for motivation and reflection.

The Importance of telling the truth

"If you fail to tell the truth, you can’t move forward, and you'll be you tethered to the past. Everything occupies space in time and truth is no different. And if you attempt to move forward while tethered, the things you build will be unstable and temperamental. The truth gives you the opportunity to come to terms with what is, even if it's painful. After the truth has been spoken, you can move on to resolution or separation, but at least you know what it is and the past no longer holds you in place. This is why dishonesty is so disastrous for relationships, social structure, and government leadership. When a lie is told, it becomes clear that values and intentions are misaligned. When a lie is spoken, the person who's lied to is forced to mourn the loss of what they perceived to be true and just."

How the world will look like 200 years from now?

"I wish I could live 200 years. My wish has nothing to do with youthfulness. I just really want to see how this thing plays out and how much we change as humans.

I follow a woman on Instagram who’s a mother and pole dancer. She has a community that praises and supports her work. This woman is spiritual, vulnerable, and transparent. 20 years ago, how many of us had access to the idea that a spiritual woman could also be a pole dancer? Our ideas of each other have expanded and I’m curious to see this expand even more.

I want us all to see the fallacy in our own beliefs. I want us all to prove ourselves wrong."

Understanding old things in a new way

"One of my favorite experiences is understanding an old thing in a new way. To think you understand a thing, then deepen that understanding is such a sweet spot. I’m always grateful for it. Every word, phrase and action have many levels to it. Ascending or deepening, both seem to require a click. When something clicks, it feels like you’ve entered a new level of understanding that thing. It’s like a video game, you unlock a key and you’re granted a new level. I think this is why two people on a certain level can have a conversation other people in the room fail to understand. Despite everyone speaking the same language, the people in that room have varying levels of clicking through. This is why the phrase “real recognizes real” is so powerful. In the same way real recognizes real, it also recognizes fake. Or to be softer, real recognizes a beginner. Real also recognizes a beginner with the potential to click through quickly. Real recognizes the pretender, even when he doesn’t know he’s pretending. Real recognizes love and true generosity. How do we click thru more often? Sometimes these moments are serendipitous. How do we ensure they’re constantly happening? ⁣"

Let's end this post by a quote from Nnenna Stella "If I hadn't felt like an imposter, I would not have had the push to learn something new."

Yours Truly,

The Queen Of Africa
