“Travel and tell no one, live a true love story and tell no one, live happily and tell no one, people ruin beautiful things.” ― Kahlil Gibran
Introduction
It's been a challenging period, one filled with sickness and a sense of stagnation. I found myself unable to put pen to paper, even though my mind teemed with ideas. The weight of the past held me back. But today, something changed. I awoke with words singing in my chest, and I couldn't ignore the call to write. I found inspiration in John C. Maxwell's audiobook, "The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth," particularly Chapter 6, The Law of Environment. It has led me to a profound realization: I must embark on a journey towards an environment where I can truly thrive, leaving behind what no longer serves me and carrying only the essentials in my bag.

Leaving the Past Behind
As I stand at this crossroads in my life, I recognize the need to travel light. When I pack my bags for this transformative journey, I intend to carry only the things that matter most. Everything else must be left behind, including the ghosts of yesterday. The only companions on this voyage will be the invaluable lessons I've learned along the way. Farewells must be bid to family, friends, colleagues, and anyone who was once a part of the train called my life. No more circling from point A to point B, repeating the same uninspiring routine, engaging in mediocre experiences, and nurturing a negative attitude that serves no purpose other than to slowly extinguish my spirit. Life's purpose is to be lived, and that's precisely what I intend to do.
Packing My Bag of Meaning
In my bag, I'll carefully place the treasures that set my soul on fire in the happiest sense—objects that make me feel at home wherever I am. It's not about physical possessions but the intangible riches that shape who I am. My bag will hold the books that have changed my life, the jewelry that carries sentimental value, the songs that make my soul sing, and the podcast episodes that have blown my mind. Everything I carry will align with the values of the person I aspire to become.
A New Environment Beckons
My destination is a place where deep and meaningful conversations flourish, where impactful decisions are made, where I'm surrounded by individuals who are wiser and more knowledgeable than I am. It's a place where remarkable businesses are built, and audacious dreams are not only understood but actively encouraged.
The Gift of Departure
Sometimes, the greatest gift you can give yourself is the act of leaving. While physical relocation might not always be possible immediately, you always have the option to relocate your mind. As Lisa Nichols wisely said, "Life will meet you exactly where your mind is." Loving oneself enough to travel light and leave behind what no longer serves is the only way to forge the path toward the future you desire.
Conclusion
In the pursuit of personal growth and a life filled with purpose, we must be willing to shed the weight of the past and the baggage that no longer serves us. Leaving behind familiar environments and relationships can be daunting, but it's often the necessary step toward discovering our true potential. As we journey toward a new and thriving environment, let us remember to pack light, carrying only the things that set our souls on fire and align with the person we aspire to be. Embrace the gift of departure, for it is the key to unlocking the future we crave.
With all my heart,
Salima
